today i continue my streak (if you can call it that) of memebox reviews/unboxings. this time i'd like to show you a new type of box - the scentbox. a scentbox is, shockingly, a box that's themed around a particular scent. the first three (perhaps of many) scentboxes memebox offered were rose, baby powder and grapefruit. i'm not a huge fan of the first two, but i love the smell of grapefruit and at $15 (plus $6.99 shipping) for 3-4 full-deluxe sized products, i couldn't resist (then again, i can't seem to resist memeboxes no matter what the theme or cost, so it's a bit of a moot point). i won't go into details about memebox again except to say that i'm seriously loving it, and skip to the bottom of this post for some codes/discounts (warning: they are affiliate codes).
anyways, onto the box itself! [apologies in advance for the crappy photos - i wanted to get this out, but getting home at midnight means no natural light...]
at only $15 (compared to normal memeboxes, which are around $23 and go up if they're superboxes or otherwise themed), this scentbox was less chock full than other boxes, which is fair. the box included the following:
1. Evas Mimi Lauryne's Dress Perfume Mist de Grapefruit (full size) ($18)
Description: Mimi Lauryne's Dress Perfume Mist is an all-around scented mist for refreshing and riddling of any stenches from your clothes, beddings, curtains, sofas, and even inside your car. A quick spritz of this citrus juiciness infused with grapefruit, lilac, orange flower, violet, and musk fragrances will lift up your mood and spirit!
Initial thoughts: soo this is a fancy febreze? that's the impression i get. i sprayed this on my pillow and it smells nice enough - not overwhelmingly of grapefruit and more sweet than tart, but nice. a lot of people seemed really excited about this mist. i personally thing it's a nice alternative to febreze or other air fresheners but is otherwise pretty unremarkable. also, the smell didn't seem to last all that long on my pillow.
2. Kael28 Sun Killing Grapefruit Gel (full size) ($30)
Description: With more than 16,200 mg of real grapefruit extracts packed inside, this all-in-one ultra-hydrating soothing gel combines all the functions of a toner, an emulsion, an essence, a cream, a soothing [sic] and a sleeping pack. Deliver deep hydration and treat signs of aging with this multi-player!
also, the smell is very very faint, but i suppose i detect a hint of grapefruit. being a scentbox, though, i'd expect more grapefruity smells...
3. Sun Smile Hydro Gel Choosy Fruit Lip Mask ($2 each)
Description: Enriched with collagen, vitamen E, and jojoba oil, Hydro Gel Choosy Smile is an easy-to-apply, gel-type lip pack for delivering moisture and vitamin nutrition deep into your dry, chapped lips.
Use: place over lips for 15-30 minutes, then pat in the remaining essence for full absorbance [sic - just trying to stay true to memebox...]
Initial thoughts: i so wanted to try one of these as soon as i opened my box so that i could include a review of it, but considering i only have two, i decided it was a waste to use it right before going to bed. so i'm going to use it at a time where it might be better appreciated (*date night* ahem) and will report back. they do look mighty strange though, based on the picture in the corner, so this is definitely a pre date night thing.
also, YOU CAN USE THEM FOR YOUR NIPPLES?? that's... super random. i think i'll refrain from testing out that use of these lip masks, but hey if anyone was desperately in need of an all-in-one lip/nipple mask, boy are you in for a treat!
final comment: these are labeled as "fruit", and there is no mention of grapefruit. not that i mind that much, but why were these included?
4. Happy Fam Deo Fresh Grapefruit ($20 for 20 sheets)
Description: Happy Fam Deo Fresh tissue with its powder formula allows you to quickly and easily refresh your sweaty, smelly under-arms throughout the daytime.
Initial thoughts: wow, memebox really thought we needed help with our bodily issues, huh? first they give us a mist for our "stenches" and now we get deodorant wipes for our smelly under-arms. useful for the summer, i suppose. that being said, while these will certainly get used, i'm also not especially over the moon about these - rarely do i get up in the morning saying "gosh, i can't wait to use my deodorant wipes today!" but oh well, what can a girl do. also, i opened up the pack and this doesn't smell strongly of grapefruit either... what gives, memebox? where are my grapefruit scents??
Final verdict: for ~ 22, i can't say i didn't get my money's worth. if i wanted all these things, i'd easily pay more than $22 for them. sadly, however, none of these products really get me going, though they will generally get used. one thing i do wish though is that, as stated above, there would be MOAR GRAPEFRUIT SMELLS! i got grapefruit as a theme, but as a scentbox, i felt like it kinda dropped the ball, aside from the mist (which is nice smelling, don't get me wrong, but not strongly grapefruit in my opinion). but who knows, maybe the lip masks will smell like grapefruit, or maybe these deodorant wipes, when mixed with the stench of my body, will combine into something magical and grapefruity.
